Police issue 'cold callers' warning

POLICE have warned the public to note details of 'cold callers' to their homes and pass them on to the PSNI in case it is a ruse being used by criminals to see what they can steal at a later date.

Sergeant David Moore of Ballymoney PSNI told the Times: “We are asking for people to be wary of cold callers and to record details and contact us.”

He was speaking after two thefts in the Rasharkin/Finvoy area and another suspicious incident at Finvoy Road.

Police received a report on June 29 of a theft of a flatbed aluminium type trailer from Tamlaght Road, Rasharkin.

There was a similar theft on July 2 at Finvoy Road when a flatbed trailer and twelve power washers were stolen from a shed.

Sergeant Moore asked the public to report anyone offering similar property for sale in suspicious circumstances.

On July 1, in the Finvoy Road area a caller told police a chain was cut off a gate and a yard entered although nothing was believed to have been taken.

Anyone with information about the incidents can contact police on 08456008000 or phone the Crimestoppers confidential freephone number on 0800555111.
