Police issue robbery appeal

DETECTIVES in Ballymena are seeking witnesses to an armed robbery in the town, last Thursday, during which an undisclosed sum in cash was stolen.

The robbery happened at around 1.05pm on January 7, when a man armed with a knife threatened and demanded cash from staff at an office at the Railway Yard in Railway Street.

The robber, who spoke with a local accent, and who has been described as approximately 6’ tall, was well built, wearing a beanie hat and a dark coloured jacket, which he zipped up to conceal his identity.

He left a short time later when an undisclosed sum was handed over.

Anyone who noticed the culprit prior to the robbery or afterwards as he made off from the scene is urged to contact the detectives at Ballymena PSNI Station.
