Police issue warning over bogus inheritance letter

Police are warning recipients of a bogus letter against responding to it.

The letter purports to be from a financial consultant in Hong Kong supposedly informing the addressee of a $25 million inheritance from a deceased “relative” called Alfred.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Have you received something like this letter in the post? If so, do not respond to it. A member of the public reported this to police yesterday.

“If you receive a phone call, letter or email that seems just too good to be true, then it probably is. Report the matter to Action Fraud and/or police on 101.”
