Police make weekend arrests

POLICE in Magherafelt made a number of arrests over the weekend as part of ongoing efforts to keep the community safe.

Four teenagers aged between 13 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of taking and driving away a car in the Castledawson area around 5.30am on May 20. All four have been released pending further enquiries.

Police saw a car driving with no lights on in the Queen Street area of Magherafelt during the early hours of May 19. Two men in their 40s were spoken to and arrested for failing to provide a preliminary breath test. Both were taken into custody where one was released unconditionally after providing a reading. The other man was released on bail pending further enquiries.

One person was arrested and two cautioned for public order offences and a further person cautioned for indecent behaviour in relation to a number of incidents.

Meanwhile, police are keen to identify the driver and passengers of a yellow BMW that crashed into a telephone junction box on Station Road in Maghera around 8.30am on May 19.
