Police officer injured during firearms training

A police officer is recovering following a shooting incident at the PSNI's Seapark facility in Carrick.

A PSNI spokesman said: “A police officer received hospital treatment for minor injuries which occurred during firearms training in the Carrick area shortly before 3.00 pm on Wednesday March 9.

“First aid was administered at the scene and the officer is now recovering at home.”

No-one else was involved in the incident.

The Police Ombudsman’s Office said that the PSNI had reported the incident.

It is understood that there is “no requirement for an investigation by the Police Ombdusman’s Office”.
