Police officers save woman from burning caravan

TWO police officers have been hailed as heroes for rescuing a woman from a burning caravan in Portrush yesterday (Monday).

The incident happened around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon when a concerned member of the public raised the alarm after discovering a caravan on fire at a site on the Dunluce Road.

Police constables James Finch and Matthew Maguire responded to the call from the member of the public and, arriving at the scene, bravely entered the smoke-filled caravan.

They found the woman who was unconscious and pulled her to safety.

Once outside the burning caravan, the two police officers administered first aid to the woman until an ambulance arrived.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the outbreak.
