Police plea over tunnels

In particular police and the Waterside Area Partnership are asking members of the public to report any underage drinking or vandalism in the area of the tunnels near the shopping centre.

A police spokesman said: “A large amount of money has been spent on artwork and revamping this space and a lot of effort and money has been put into making it more user-friendly.

“Unfortunately, a lot of graffiti has been caused to the artwork and at focus group meetings it has been raised that youths are still gathering in the area we would encourage the reporting of this to deter such activity.”
