“My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Their loss will be enormous at this time and I am sure that the thoughts of the whole area are with them.

“I also hope and pray that the others involve in this accident will make a full recovery.

“This is a reminder of the great dangers that exist for all road users and I would urge all motorists to slow down and be more vigilant when driving.”

Alliance Councillor for Antrim Line, Tom Campbell also expressed his shock at the death of the woman in a road traffic accident and conveyed his sympathies to her family.

Councillor Campbell said: “It is shocking to learn of circumstances in which another person’s life is lost as the result of a road traffic accident. I understand that this lady’s children live in her home country in Poland but that she was a pillion passenger on her husband’s motorcycle when the accident occurred.

“I convey my condolences to her family both here and in Poland on this tragic and upsetting accident.”

Meanwhile, police have re-issued an appeal for information.

“While police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone who may have witnessed a blue/grey coloured Vauxhall Zafira in the area of the entrance to St. Enda’s GAA Club at the time of the collision, we would stress that this is not a hit-and-run appeal,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
