Police recover stolen Newtownabbey sheep

Police have recovered a number of stolen sheep following a joint operation between police and other agencies on Wednesday, March 15.

Police in Antrim, with the assistance of enforcement officers from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) recovered 19 sheep, believed to have been stolen last month from the Newtownabbey area.

A quantity of fireworks and livestock identification tags were also recovered during the operation.

Constable Allister Speedy said: “Rural and agricultural crime is a serious issue and police understand the concerns of those who have been directly involved.

“It is important to stress that the PSNI takes a robust approach in tackling all crime, including those which affect the rural community.”
