Police recover suspected drugs thrown from car

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs after police witnessed a bag being thrown from a car in Peggy Loaning on Tuesday evening.

The bag, containing white powder, was subsequently recovered and police suspect it contained 1.08kgs of a Class A substance.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a blue coloured Rover car.

Officers were travelling behind the vehicle when it sped up on Iveagh Drive and made off from police. Police observed a bag being thrown out of the car.

The Rover car was located a short time later in the car park of a local hotel and two men, aged 25 and 37 years old, were arrested. The 25 year old was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. The 37 year old was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Both were later released on bail pending further enquiries.
