Inspector Jon Burrows said: “As Christmas approaches we know that most people will store more valuables in their homes. We know that thieves and burglars know this too so we want to make it as difficult as possible for them to target any property in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon.
“With this in mind we have launched our Top Ten Tips to beat the burglar. We have exhausted all our electronic contacts and sent the leaflet far and wide through email with a request for it to be shared with each recipient’s contacts. Our aim is to reach as many people as possible so that we can all prevent criminals ruining our festive season.
“We will also be conducting leaflet drops in targeted areas over the coming days and using our social media to publicise the top ten tips.
“We will continue with our regular anti-burglary patrols and are encouraging everyone to report suspicious activity to us – no matter how insignificant it may seem, the report of a suspicious vehicle or people acting strangely in your neighbourhood can help us to prevent and detect crime.
“We would like all of you to help us spread the message. Talk to your family and neighbours about the top ten tips and the simple measures you can take to make your home more secure.
“Let’s make sure we have a Christmas to remember for the right reasons!”
Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) Manager, Patricia Gibson added: “Domestic burglary has been and will remain a priority for the PCSP. We are pleased to be able to work in partnership with the police locally to promote the Top Ten Tips and help remind local people that they can take steps to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime.”
