Police reveal rural success

LOCAL police officers have had some success in rural Ballymena recently with the discovery of a number of oil drums containing what is believed to be diesel in the Dunnygarron Road area of Cullybackey.

Police also recovered a Holland Power Shuttle tractor valued at 38,000, on the Shellinghill Road, which had been stolen on May 7.

Inspector John Allen said: “Tackling rural crime is a Ballymena policing plan and a Partners & Communities Together (PACT) objective. Police are continually conducting proactive patrols in the Ballymena Rural area.

“Due to this police activity and the help of the community, we have had some successes in disrupting fuel theft activity and recovering high value plant machinery.

“I would like to thank the community for their continued vigilance and encourage them to continue to let Police know of anything they feel is suspicious.”
