Police say attack on Magherafelt house was a hate crime

Police in Magherafelt are treating an incident in which a stone was thrown through the window of a house and grafitti daubed on its wall as a hate crime.

They are appealing for information following the incident in the Leckagh Drive area in the early hours of this morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “At around 2am, it was reported that a window of a derelict premises was damaged in the area.

“It is believed that a stone was thrown through a living room window. It was also reported that grafitti was painted on the property.

“No one is believed to have injured during the incident. Enquiries are continuing but at this stage, police are treating the incident as a hate crime.”
