Police seek driver after teenager is injured

Police in Banbridge are appealing for information following the incident, which occurred as the teenager was crossing Commercial Road at the roundabout with Newry Road some time between 3.40pm and 3.50pm on Tuesday, February 4.

The 13 year old pedestrian was knocked over and sustained an injury to her leg.

The female driver of the car then got out and spoke to the pedestrian before driving on and police are anxious to speak to the driver.

“I really hope the young lady has not been badly injured,” said councillor Joan Baird. “Any accident, even if you are not seriously injured, is traumatic and so I would ask for the driver to come forward and give whatever information she can to the police.

“I would also ask those in the area at the time, if they know of anything to help with the inquiry, please contact the police.”

Police are appealing to the driver of the Mini car or any witnesses to contact them in Banbridge on 0845 600 8000.
