Police seek ‘hooded youths’ after stone thrown at moving car in Moneymore breaks back window

Police are seeking three youths wearing dark hoodies who were spotted after a stone was thrown at a vehicle driving through Moneymore, breaking its back window.

The incident, described as “very serious” by officers, was reported to have happened at around 6.30pm on Saturday in Stonard Street.

Police said in a statement: “We are currently appealing for information in relation to a criminal damage incident to a car on Saturday evening at approximately 6.30pm on Stonard Street, Moneymore.

“A rear window of a car was smashed. Three youths wearing dark hoodys were noted in the area, and a stone was thrown at the car window.

“This is very serious as the car was in motion and there could have been serious injuries to the driver or other road users. There are offences of causing a danger to road users and criminal damage.

“This anti social behaviour will not be tolerated and will be fully investigated.”
