Police send support ahead of final

Local police officers have sent messages of support to Ballymena United and Carrick Rangers ahead of today's League Cup final.

Posting on the PSNI Ballymena Facebook page yesterday, a police spokesperson said: “Ahead of Saturday’s sold out League Cup Final between Ballymena United and Carrick Rangers at Seaview, Belfast, Ballymena police would like to wish all involved with Ballymena United, and all the supporters, the best of luck.

“It is a massive occasion for the clubs, as neither have ever won the tournament, and hopefully we will get to ‘police’ the victory celebrations back in Ballymena.”

A similar message appeared on the PSNI Carrickfergus Facebook page this morning. A police spokesperson said: “Ahead of today’s sold out League Cup Final between Carrick Rangers and Ballymena United at Seaview, Carrick police would like to wish all involved with Carrick Rangers, and all the supporters, the best of luck.

“This is a massive occasion for the clubs and hopefully we will get to ‘police’ the celebrations back in Carrick.”

The match at Seaview kicks off at 5:30pm.
