Police suspicious after car stopped short

The court heard that on December 15 last year police were dealing with another motorist at Princesgate, Dromore, when they saw a vehicle stop short of them and then turn away. They followed it because they thought it was suspicious and spoke to the defendant. He was asked to produce his insurance and licence but failed to do so.

A solicitor representing Goodbarn said he had been disqualified in this jurisdiction in 2011 and knew at the time of these offences that he was not insured.

He explained that a friend of the defendant had been out having a drink and Goodbarn agreed to collect him and bring him home. The solicitor added that his client would regularise his position with his documentation.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said the defendant had shown a ‘casual and indifferent at worse’ attitude to the road traffic legislation.
