Police target salmon poaching on Moyola

POLICE officers working with the Moyola Angling Club bailiffs and DCAL Fishery Protection Officers conducted patrols along the Moyola River on Monday, to tackle the issue of salmon poaching in the area. Police are now in possession of a large fishing net that was recovered from the mouth of the River.

Police, as part of Operation ‘Salmo’, will continue to work with angling clubs and the water bailiff for the area and are determined to prevent salmon poaching from happening and will continue to target known poaching hot spots. Police will take robust action against anyone caught committing this type of activity in the area, which may result in prosecution through the courts and may also lead to boats and private vehicles being seized.
