Police to crack down on school parking offenders

Larne police have urged drivers parking outside schools to stop and think about whether they are parking in a safe and considerate manner.

Constable Nigel Greenlee explains: “By parking illegally, you are placing school children at risk.

“Complaints have been received about parents and guardians parking illegally when dropping off or collecting children at schools. As a result, police and school staff are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of pupils crossing roads, walking on footpaths and accessing school buses.

“By parking illegally, you are placing school children at risk. It is illegal for drivers to park their vehicles on double and single yellow lines and at bus stops.

Police will be paying particular attention to areas near schools and where offences are noted, fixed penalty tickets will be issued.

“Put safety first - be responsible drivers and keep your children safe,” he urged.
