Police to patrol Davagh Forest on quads in answer to anti-social behaviour

Following numerous reports of antisocial behaviour in and around Davagh Forest, the PSNI has launched a pilot scheme that will see officers patrol the area on quads.

PC Stevenson said: “This pilot scheme will give us an opportunity to carry out high visibility patrolling following concerns about anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and deer poaching. Quads are not toys however these vehicles will be used as emergency Police vehicles only and by appropriately trained officers.

“Go-peds, scooters, quads and scramblers are not permitted at Davagh under any other circumstance.”

Council chair Linda Dillon, has welcomed the move: “Those engaging in anti-social behaviour or the reckless use of scramblers and scooters act as a barrier to visitors to Davagh,” she said. “This scheme will help address the issues.”
