Police urge vigilance against oil thieves

RESIDENTS of Waterside areas hit by oil thieves during the recent cold snap have been urged by the PSNI to do what they can to secure their burners and to report any suspicious activity directly to the police.

Police say they are aware of a recent upsurge in the theft of oil burners in the Foyle area.

Recent reports include thefts in the Shepherds Glen and Dervock Street areas of the Waterside as well as in the St Columb's Wells and Moss Park areas of the cityside.

Residents are urged to do what they can to prevent criminals accessing oil burners and to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods directly to police.
