Police use baton in park dog attack

POLICE had to hit a dog with a baton after it attacked two people in Hillsborough Forest Park on Monday.

The dog, which died after the blow, had bitten a woman on the face as she was walking around the lake around 12.30pm on Monday afternoon.

The Rottweiler dog also bit a man on his hand and paramedics were called to the scene to treat those who were injured.

A police spokesperson said: "Police responded to reports that a woman had been attacked by a dog in the area of Hillsborough Lake at approximately 12.30pm on Monday March 15.

"Upon police arrival it was determined a woman had sustained a bite to her face, and another male had been bitten on the hand. A Rottweiler dog which was acting very aggressively was struck with a police baton. The dog is now deceased.

"All injured parties were treated by paramedics."
