Police vehicle rammed incity car chase

A MAN was arrested after a car chase in Londonderry in which a police vehicle was rammed, a fugitive reversed the wrong way around a roundabout, and two pedestrians were almost knocked down, the PSNI have revealed.

A police vehicle was rammed by a car in Londonderry during the early hours of Saturday morning, October 6.

At around 2.30am a Vauxhall Corsa rammed a police vehicle as it drove through the roundabout at the junction of William Street and Rossville Street.

The car driver then reversed the wrong way around the roundabout before he sped off onto Little James Street on the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing two pedestrians.

The car then drove onwards to Great James Street and headed off in the direction of Queen Street. The blue coloured Vauxhall Corsa, registration LLZ 8120, had no lights on at the time. A 24 yr-old male was arrested.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the car. Anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the car is asked to contact Police at Strand Road station on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
