Police warning after bikes are stolen

A number of bikes were stolen from property at Governors Road on Thursday, January 16.

Thieves stole the two bicycles, which had been tethered to a rack outside commercial premises, and the chains removed, sometime between 6pm and 8pm,

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or who has any information to contact them at Lisburn on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police would advise bicycle owners to think of ways of securing their bicycle. They should be locked in a garage or shed when not in use or where this is not practical, an approved lock should be used to lock the bicycle in such a way to make it as difficult as possible for the thief.

Owners should record full descriptions of bicycles. Use an ordinary permanent marker on bicycles to write post code / house numbers as this makes it more unique/distinguishable from others.

Permanent ultraviolet security marking pens are available from Lisburn Police Station free of charge.
