At the meeting held at Newtownabbey bus depot, the local representatives heard about the latest service performance and enhancements that will benefit Translink customers.

Translink Service Delivery Manager, Gerry Mullan, said: “As part of a wider Metro investment, new eco-friendly buses with a striking new ‘all pink’ livery are now operating along the popular City Express 13 & 14 routes between Newtownabbey and the city centre.

“The introduction of a new Metro timetable from September 1 has also seen a number of bus frequency enhancements and Ulsterbus passengers will also benefit from improvements to the 367 town service which will now serve Glenvarna estate, Ballyclare Road and Ballyhenry Road.

This will provide improved access to Abbeycentre, Northcott, Shore Road, Whiteabbey Train Station and Glengormley, as well as feed into other regular Metro services.”

He added: “To make the most of their local services, we would encourage our customers to take advantage of great value tickets like Smartlink or dayLink.

“Our ‘Love Metro Saturdays’ day ticket will also be available every Saturday between now and October 25, priced at just £2 with a dayLink card or £2.50 for a cash fare.

“Train passengers can also continue to enjoy a third off NI Railways day return tickets for travel after 9.30am or enjoy excellent discounts by using weekly or monthly tickets compared to cash fares.

“We appreciate local politicians taking the time to find out about our latest developments and would ask for their support for public transport, helping us attract more customers and making life better for more people in Northern Ireland.”
