According to the party, Aaron worked extremely effectively as the election agent for the PUP in the Lurgan area in the recent local council elections and will bring the same enthusiasm and energy to the role.

Aaron succeeds Lexi Davison as branch chairman and press officer.

The branch thanked Lexi for all his hard work since the Lurgan branch was formed and for standing as their candidate at the council elections. “His experience will still be important as the party looks to strive forward in helping our community,”
said a branch statement.

Aaron said: “Lexi was a pivotal member in getting the PUP set up in Lurgan and I hope to continue on his
hard work within the area.

“In the last 18 months the PUP have come a long way in the area and I am confident this progress will continue.

“As a branch we are looking forward to continue to serve our community.”

He added: “I consider it a privilege to take up the
position as chairperson of the Lurgan branch of Progressive Unionist Party.

“I look forward to working with party colleagues,
wider community and statutory agencies in addressing issues affecting local communities such as education, health,
local economy, arts and
culture, youth and long term unemployment.

“As a young and
unashamedly proud loyalist
I think it is of critical importance that we engage our young people and encourage them to become more politically active in the democratic process.

“Young people are the
future leaders of Northern Ireland so it is vital that we nurture and develop that
engagement with existing and emerging young leaders.

“We are seeing more and more people from a wide range of backgrounds joining the party with
branches opening all over of Northern Ireland.

“I intend to build on this success and ensure that the PUP continue to
provide strong, positive leadership and a genuine voice for those living in local
communities.”
