Election candidate Nigel Gardiner, called on parents to take action following a rise in complaints about young people drinking and causing a nuisance at St Columb’s Park and at the adventure play park.

“Hand in hand with this there has also been a marked increase in the amount of graffiti in the public space between the Peace Bridge and St Columb’s Park House,” he said, continuing: “I have spoken to the PSNI about this problem, and want to thank Inspector Declan McGrath, who has assured me that extra resources will be put in place at weekends and in the evenings.”
