Call for Military Covenant in NI

DUP Alderman Maurice Devenney has called for the Military Covenant to be offered to all ex-military personnel who need it.

Speaking after watching this week’s ‘Spotlight’ programme, Mr Devenney said: “It is wrong that military veterans who need help with serious physical and mental injuries are left to feel abandoned and betrayed by our Government.

“The Military Covenant should be implemented in Northern Ireland as it is in the rest of the UK. It is a promise to look after members of our armed forces and their families who have served Queen and country home and abroad. I

“n the rest of Great Britain veterans are entitled to some form of priority medical treatment, but this does not happen here. We owe ex-servicemen and women the right medical care and support package.”
