Councillor McAlinden, who is Vice Chair of Leisure and Community Services Committee, calls for shore power to be introduced for berth holders at Kinnego Marina.

He said: “I have been contacted by a number of berth holders calling for shore power to be installed at the Marina. Shore power is a resource which is long overdue and is seen as a basic requirement at any reputable and established marina.

“While caravaners can travel from all over the country and possibly further afield, to avail of the facilities at the same site, berth holders, who loyally pay fees year after year, cannot utilize basic equipment on their boats.”

He is hoping that shore power will be installed in the near future at Kinnego Marina to maintain the number of boats and visitors who come year on year.

He has raised the matter at the committee meeting.
