Proposals are afoot for three charging points in Portadown - at DRD car parks in Meadow Lane and Magowan Building and at the Seagoe Hotel.

At the most recent council meeting DUP Alderman Stephen Moutray said: “Every day I pass by one of these charging points and I’m yet to see any cars using it. When I do I’ll go over an shake their hands.

“Let’s hope sooner or later they start using them.”

He added: “I don’t think Lough Neagh Discovery Centre is one of the most appropriate locations. Especially at 10 or 11 at night when the gates are closed.”

Director of Environmental Services Lorraine Crawford told the meeting: “These points were discussed with DRD and members. The one at Lough Neagh Discovery Centre is intended for people attending conferences.”
