Council Head of Human Resources, Sharon Currans, said: “We are proud to be recognised as an employer of choice that supports a range of family-friendly employment initiatives. Helping our employees to get their work life balance right is a priority because not only are they happier to come to work but also they are happier in their work.

“This is then reflected in the high level of customer service that they deliver to ratepayers and service users. Ultimately, our overall performance as an organisation depends on providing an environment in which our employees can flourish, so it’s in our interest to make Banbridge District Council a great place to work.”

Commenting on the success of the new award and calibre of applicants Marie Marin, CEO, Employers For Childcare Vouchers commented: “Employers For Childcare Vouchers has led the way in actively promoting investment in employer supported childcare for several years now in Northern Ireland and the UK and we are excited by the outstanding calibre of finalists celebrated at these awards.

“We are delighted to showcase the commitment of organisations that have an embedded family friendly culture in place.

“While the awards are an opportunity to celebrate those companies that are committed to making a positive family friendly environment, they are also an excellent way of illustrating best practice that we hope other companies can learn from and follow. Offering family friendly working initiatives have proven to increase staff retention, improve productivity and ultimately contribute to business growth which is a huge boost in tough economic times.”
