Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council’s (LCCC) planning committee was presented with a recommendation for approval on the “revised” 26 house construction by ‘Millmount Village LLP’.
An estimated £120m investment at the 90acre Millmount Village site has already seen two separate approvals for 483 homes in 2017 followed by 293 residential units in 2020.

However, committee chairperson Martin Gregg said: “Can we put in a condition that zero houses are occupied until speed bumps and traffic calming are put in place?”
An officer replied: “If members are minded to do so. We would need to take some legal advice.”
Following a 40 minute discussion behind closed doors, the committee chairperson proposed to defer the application “for more information on conditions for new traffic lights at junctions and the delivery of traffic calming measures”.
