Festivals Fund open to groups in the district

BANBRIDGE District Council’s Community Festivals Fund is now open to groups in the area.

The council welcomes applications from groups which are planning to organise community festivals between 1 January and 31 March 2012.

Consideration will be given to applications for cultural, music or sporting events that seek to promote social cohesion and inclusion as well as enhance equality of opportunity and good relations within the district. Events should also aim to increase visitor numbers to the district as well as promote a positive image of Northern Ireland.

Only formally constituted groups can apply to the Community Festivals Fund. Groups must also demonstrate evidence of their ability to part fund their own event with a view to becoming self-sustaining. Furthermore, the event should not be in receipt of funding from any other government programme.

The closing date for applications is Friday 9 December at 5pm and applications should be clearly marked ‘Community Festivals Fund Application’. All applications will be assessed after the closing date and notification given subject to council approval.

This fund is jointly funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and Banbridge District Council.

To request an application form, contact the council’s Community and Enterprise Department on 4066 0605.
