Half a century of married bliss

FIFTY years ago this Saturday Jean and Samuel Thompson tied the knot in Waringstown Parish Church.

The happy couple, who live in the Grey Estate, will be joined by friends and family to celebrate the big anniversary this weekend.

It could prove to be a sizeable party as Jean and Samuel have seven children, 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who all live in the local area.

Waringstown woman Jean met her future husband one Sunday night in 1960 in Lurgan town centre. She said it was “love at first sight” and the pair have lived happily ever after in the preceding half century.
