Junior High pupils in live Afghan chat

The junior high were the only school in Northern Ireland taking part in ‘National Heroes Day’ and they pulled out all the stops to mark the event.

It’s the second year the school has hosted the event which taught pupils the difference between celebrities and heroes.

The programme included visits from a serving Royal Irish Regiment soldier and Fiona Weir, correspondent for the British Forces Broadcasting Service, both of whom spoke to pupils and were interviewed by LJHS TV Studio for a live internet broadcast to parents and friends on the internet that day.

The school was also lucky enough to carry out a chat with a soldier in Afghanistan via a live stream.

Children were encouraged to dress up as their heroes and the money raised through the non-uniform day and the selling of wrist-bands will be donated to the charity ‘Help for Heroes’.
