New leadership course available

Banbridge District Council has unveiled a new programme of training for those involved with community groups in the district.

Starting on Tuesday, October 1, the course will run over four evenings. Key areas featured include what is meant by leadership; characteristics of a good leader; assessing your own leadership skills and qualities; demonstrating leadership in the community; effective leadership; barriers and challenges of leadership; and action planning to improve your own leadership. Participants will have the option of accreditation at OCN Level II.

Other training being offered as part of the programme includes Child Protection training, Basic First Aid, ‘We Can Make a Difference’, focusing on people skills, and ‘Let’s Fundraise Successfully’ which looks at measuring success and ensuring a group makes the best of fundraising opportunities.

Places on all these courses are allocated on a first come first served basis. Groups can book a maximum of two places in the first instance by providing the name and contact address of those wishing to enrol. For further details contact Banbridge District Council’s on 406 60605.
