Party calls for excess domestic waste collection service

Sinn Féin ABC Council Group have proposed an excess domestic waste collection service by ABC Council as a way to alleviate the pressure constituents find themselves under as a result of the continued closure of recycling centres.

Councillor Keith Haughian said: “The message of stay home stay safe has undoubtedly saved lives. We continue to reiterate the calls from NHS staff and front line workers to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel.

“Recycling centres will reopen when it is safe to do so.

“In the meantime, and as a way to minimise the inevitable tidal wave of people rushing to recycling centres when they do reopen, we are proposing council provide a safe and manageable excess domestic waste collection service.”
