Plans around local lockdown discussed

A Carntogher councillor has been told plans for keeping businesses up to date in the event of a local lockdown are to be discussed at the October meeting of Council’s environment committee.

Speaking at September’s monthly meeting of Mid Ulster District Council, Sinn Fein councillor, Cora Corry asked for guidance on what measures are being put in place should a local lockdown of Mid Ulster be required.

“I have previously asked about local plans on COVID-19 restrictions, which may give each council certain enforcement powers,” said Cllr Corry.

“What plans are being in put place with regards to this?

“Also can we ensure that guidance and advice is clearly and quickly updated and our environmental health team can keep our businesses up to date with the changes as they happen.”

In response a council officer told the Councillor discussions on this matter are underway.

“The conversations around these matters are ongoing  and we will update members at the next meeting of the environment committee.” said the Council officer.
