Pupils learn about engineering careers

PUPILS at St Mary’s Junior High School in Lurgan have been given an insight into the potential career opportunities available in engineering.

Sentinus, supported by Engineering UK, is running the Tomorrow’s Engineers programme in Northern Ireland, designed to excite and inspire young people about the possibilities the sector has on offer.

As well as engaging in a number of practical, problem solving STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths - activities the pupils were given the opportunity to hear about the career experiences of a number of people currently working in the engineering sector.

Brian Campbell, Chief Executive, Sentinus, said: “Considering the difficulties many employers have finding people with appropriate STEM skills and qualifications, it is vital that we open up the exciting world of science and technology to young people. This Tomorrow’s Engineers Roadshow provides an excellent opportunity to show that science and technology is relevant and can offer rewarding careers.”
