Counting continues as eight elected

As the counting continues at Banbridge Leisure Centre there have been eight new councillors elected of the 41 seat Armagh Banbridge Craigavon Council.

In Portadown Jonathan Buckley (DUP) was the first elected.

In Craigavon Kenneth Twyble (UUP) and Robert Smith (DUP) are elected while in Cusher Jim Speers (UUP), Paul Berry (Ind) and Gordon Kennedy (UUP) took three of the five available seats.

In Lagan River, Craigavon Mayor Mark Baxter earns a seat on the new council along with DUP colleague Paul Rankin.

There are still 33 seats to be decided across seven District Electoral Areas (DEAs).

Counting will begin on the Lurgan, Armagh and Banbridge DEAs tomorrow (Saturday).
