News broke on October 26, that distribution work is to be concentrated in Wolverhampton, with many roles across east Antrim now uncertain.

Economy Minister Simon Hamilton MLA expressed his concern at the possibility of 313 jobs losses, saying: “This is a deeply worrying time for staff at WiggleCRC in NI. They are foremost in my thoughts. Chain Reaction was a highly successful homegrown firm. It’s success led to the Wiggle investment. Whilst my officials are already in contact with the company, I’ll engage with Wiggle management at the earliest opportunity to explore ways of retaining as many jobs as possible.”

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cllr John Scott said: “My thoughts and those of my fellow councillors, are with the employees as well as their families in this time of uncertainty. Chain Reaction has established a strong presence in our borough, and I hope that WiggleCRC will work with their employees to ensure minimal impact is caused.”

Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, is shocked by what he considers to be a devastating blow to the workforce so soon after the merger. He said: “I’ll be seeking a meeting with WiggleCRC management to determine and discuss the grade, skills and location of these remaining positions, particularly as we face uncertain times for affected employees that will undoubtedly be compounded by Brexit.”
