Voters in East Londonderry voted to REMAIN in European Union, the Times can reveal.

However those who cast their votes in North Antrim overwhelmingly opted to LEAVE.

In East Derry the turnout was 59.9% with the Leave vote gaining 48.0% (19,455) and Remain 52.0% (21,098).

In the North Antrim constituency 62.2% (30,938) voted Leave and 37.8% (18,782) voted Remain.

Despite a majority in Northern Ireland voting to remain in the European Union, Britain as a whole opted to leave.

In NI, 56% of people who voted - that’s 440,707 - wanted to remain as part of the EU, while 44%, or 349,442, wanted to leave.

In total 11 constituencies here voted Remain while seven voted Leave.
