Gruesome dead foxfind in Lisdillonprompts concern

The gruesome discovery of several rotting foxes at a site in Ardmore that’s unfortunately become a favourite spot for flytippers has prompted Derry City Council to take action.

DUP Alderman Maurice Devenney said the discovery of the dead animals in picturesque Lisdillon was a public health concern.

“I was contacted by a constituent who came across the foxes in an old disused shed when they were out walking their dog,” said Mr Devenney. “It’s a gruesome sight and I would call on whoever’s done this to see sense.”

A spokesperson for Derry City Council said it was aware of the issue and was liaising directly with the elected member in relation to it and to having the material removed.

Mr Devenney said he did not have an issue with fox hunting as a lawfully practised sporting activity but called for the proper disposal of dead animals.

“I’d ask members of the sporting fraternity or hunters to dispose of animals in the proper manner. To leave the animals in an old shed is putting people’s health at risk,” he added.

The DUP Alderman also said the area has been plagued by flytippers for the past number of months.
