Kelly calls for new build and retro-fits
Upper Bann Westminster candidate Dolores Kelly MLA has said her party will seek a radical new build and retrofit programme that will put people into work and into decent accommodation.
She said: “The SDLP has an unrivalled record in the delivery of social housing for disadvantaged and hard working communities. No other party has built as many homes for people struggling to find decent accommodation.
“That’s why we’re calling for a radical programme of new builds and retro fitting for old properties. The SDLP has a history of delivering where others failed. That’s how we halved the number of homes that failed to meet the ‘decent home standard’ from 2007-2011. That’s why we’ll take action to help the almost 40,000 people on the waiting list and 22,000 in housing stress.”
