Limavady bus cuts: ‘An attack on our town’

Proposals to end the town centre bus services in Limavady, set out in budget proposals from the Department for Regional Development, have been called an ‘attack’ on the town.

The President of the Roe Valley Chamber of Commerce, David Brewster, slammed the proposed cuts.

“If someone had decided to implement a policy to kill off the town of Limavady by a thousand cuts, he could do no better than follow the policies of the Stormont administration in recent years”, he said. “This latest blow will hit the elderly, the ill, and those on benefits, who will marooned from the town, and will be a major blow to the economic development of the town. It will mean that many people will not be able to access shops and services, and cut them off from the rest of the community. I expect to hear a united front from our local politicians to have this latest attack on ouR town stopped immediately.”
