MP leads delegation of farmers to London

Upper Bann MP David Simpson has led a delegation of local farmers, processors and political representatives to Westminster for a crisis meeting with the EFRA Minister.

Following the meeting, Mr Simpson said, “The meeting was an opportunity for representatives from the industry to bring the concerns of NI’s farmers to our Government. It was an encouragement to see the Minister earnestly listening to our views and she understood the current plight dairy farmers in NI are going through. We did bring to her attention the pressures being felt across the agri-foods industry - with the lamb and red meat sectors struggling with a similar burden.

“I look forward to meeting the Minister again prior to the EU summit and assure local farmers I will be continuing my discussions with both the UFU and DARD on their behalf.”
