'No payments' yet for those involved in Lough Neagh fishing industry

Sinn Féin MLA Emma Sheerin has said Sinn Féin has tabled a motion calling on Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots to release financial support payments for those involved in the Lough Neagh eel and scale fish industries.

“Those involved in the eel and scale fisheries on Lough Neagh and their families have not received any financial support during the Covid-19 pandemic," said Ms Sherrin.

“We have tabled a motion in the Assembly because, despite meetings with the Agriculture Minister and numerous assurances that money will be released no payments have been made and those involved in the Lough Neagh fishing industry remain out of pocket.

Sinn Fein is once again calling on the Edwin Poots to do the right thing and support the fishing industry on the lough."
