O’Loan and Cunningham at charity breakfast for Rotary Club

SDLP representative Donal Cunningham, running in the upcoming local elections, accompanied by MLA Declan O’Loan attended the ‘Good Morning Ballycastle’ charity breakfast hosted by the Rotary Club of Ballycastle.

The event, which took place on Saturday the 16th April in the Central Bar, was set up to raise money for the scheme. Set up in 2007, ‘Good Morning Ballycastle’ provides a friendly voice on the telephone for people who are living alone. The service acts as a care and alert scheme aimed at reducing fears of vulnerability and isolation experienced by many people within our community.

Cunningham and O’Loan attended the breakfast to show their support for the scheme, who’s work they feel is invaluable to the local community. Cunningham stated that;

“The work that the Good Morning Ballycastle volunteers perform for our community is a highly valued and very important service. It offers security to the more vulnerable members of our society in the form of a friendly voice, and every effort should be made to ensure that the scheme gets all the support it needs”

SDLP representative Cunningham believes firmly in the work carried out by Good Morning Ballycastle and feels that given the proper support the scheme could go on to be a vital community business.
