Pounding the streets

UPPER Bann DUP MLA Stephen Moutray is to join party colleagues Cllr Carla Lockhart (Lurgan) and Cllr Mark Baxter (Donaghcloney) in completing the Belfast City marathon nine mile walk in aid of the local well known charity Charlene’s Project.

Speaking ahead of the event on May 7 Stephen said: “The late Charlene Barr was the founder of this charity to help aid people in Uganda. A school has been completed and they are progressing with the second build.

“Despite being born with cystic fibrosis Charlene was an inspiration to many people and touched many lives.

“When she had to drop out of school due to failing health Charlene made the decision that she would raise money to build a school in Uganda so that children there would get a chance of an education.

“We have been touched by her project and the vision that Charlene had. We are taking part in this walk as part of the Belfast City Marathon event and would welcome any donations for this tremendous cause.”
