It is the second successive year that the Waterside Branch has won the cup in the Northern Ireland-wide, delighting its nearly 600 local members locally.

The awards were announced at a gala event on Saturday in Ballymena, and first to congratulate the branch was it’s chairman, Joanna Boyd, who said: “I would like to congratulate the committee and members on this fantastic achievement. It is the second successive year that the branch has won the trophy. We won it for being the most effective and efficient branch in Northern Ireland in terms of retaining our members, running events and for promotion of the good works of the RBL and its services.

“We have nearly 600 members and among the programmes we run are schools outreach, community fetes, the Festival of Remembrance at Waterside Theatre, our highly successful Poppy Week and we have a continuously rolling programme of projects and activities throughout the year. It is brilliant to see these rewarded.”
